New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for distributing ₹10,000 each to 7.5 million women in poll-bound Bihar, calling the new self-employment scheme a "vote revdi" (freebie for votes).

"Along with 'vote theft', the prime minister is now engaged in distributing 'vote revdi'," Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh alleged.

Recalling Modi's past criticism of the Congress-led Karnataka government's Grihalakshmi scheme for providing ₹2,000 per month to 13 million women, Ramesh said, "And just yesterday, he announced an OTP ('one-time payment') for the women of Bihar."

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday left for yet another foreign tour, this time to South America.-OPB
