Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday returned to Patna after a short two-day trip to Delhi.

Sources in the JDU told ET that Kumar was on a personal trip. On Monday, there was speculation that Kumar will meet BJP president JP Nadda. However, no such meeting took place. Sources told ET that the two leaders held a brief discussion over phone and there was no political conversation between them.

JDU has already announced that it will contest the Delhi assembly elections in alliance with BJP. In 2020, JDU contested on two seats in Delhi. Last week, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that there is no indication yet of an alliance with the JDU for Delhi polls. Sachdeva, however, added that the call would be taken by the party's central leadership. From the JDU, its working president Sanjay Jha would be leading the discussion over seat sharing. Earlier, Jha was the key person who negotiated seat sharing for the JDU in Jharkhand and the party contested on two seats, winning one of them.
