New Delhi: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced a cash handout for 16 lakh registered construction workers of the state.

The day is being celebrated as Vishwakarma Puja and Kumar announced to make a cash transfer of ₹5,000 each to 16.05 lakh construction workers amounting to ₹802.46 crore. The money has been transferred as part of the cloth assistance scheme to the workers.

"... I have directed the labour resources department to conduct a campaign to register those workers who have not yet been registered as soon as possible and to connect them with this scheme to provide them benefits.


In this journey of the state's development, the invaluable contribution of worker brothers and sisters is there. The government is continuously working for the welfare of every section of society," Nitish Kumar posted on X.
