New Delhi: The ruling alliance welcomed the SC order and said that it will help ECI execute the exercise.

BJP chief JP Nadda termed it a loss for Congress as SC didn't stop SIR in Bihar. "Congress tried every trick and deceit to stop SIR, but they had to face disappointment today. Now, in sheer desperation, Congress is clutching at non-issues and parading them as moral victories. The fact remains that all their canards are being rejected, exposed, and defeated. Congress has yet again lost the case and lost the plot," he posted on X.

Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal told ET: "ECI has already given the booth-wise list of those whose votes have been deleted to political parties. Now the SC has ordered ECI to put the list on their website and make it available for people. There is no harm in that. ECI has already been doing a great job in a transparent manner to include every eligible voter in the list," Jaiswal said.

JDU's Rajeev Ranjan told ET: "The direction given by the Supreme Court is for the Election Commission to follow. As a party our concern is that there should be a fair election, and eligible voters should get the chance to exercise their voting right. ECI was already doing the job. The response to SIR on the ground is incredible. That is visible in the number of enumeration forms submitted."
