Chapra Election Result 2025: Khesari Lal Yadav fails to get his act right in Chapra, loses by 7,600 votes

Shatrughan Yadav, popularly known as Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav, has lost the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from Chapra. BJP’s Chhoti Kumari secured 86,845 votes, while Yadav finished with 79,245.

This was Yadav’s electoral debut. He had earlier said that his “heart has always been with the RJD.” A leading figure in Bhojpuri entertainment, he has acted in nearly 100 films and performed over 5,000 songs. He has often spoken about his humble beginnings, sharing that his father, Mangaru Yadav, worked as a street vendor in the mornings and a security guard at night. In his childhood, Yadav grazed cattle and sold milk before moving to Delhi with his family, where they earned a living selling litti-chokha.

Yadav filed his nomination as the RJD candidate from Chapra in Saran district and declared assets worth ₹24.81 crore in his affidavit. He joined the party a day before filing his papers; his wife Chanda, a homemaker, also joined the RJD in Patna.


According to his affidavit submitted to the returning officer, Yadav owns movable assets worth ₹16.89 crore and immovable property valued at ₹7.91 crore. His wife has movable assets worth ₹90.02 lakh and immovable property worth ₹6.49 crore. Yadav declared cash holdings of ₹5 lakh, while his wife holds ₹2 lakh. His assets include gold jewellery worth ₹35 lakh and a luxury car valued at ₹3 crore. He also maintains multiple bank accounts.
