The prime minister launched youth-focused initiatives to the tune of ₹62,000 crore at a convocation ceremony here for ITI pass outs from remote parts of the country, including Bihar. He announced that the two major initiatives for youth across the country in the fields of education and skill development are being started today. Under the ₹60,000 crore PM SETU scheme, ITIs will now be more robustly integrated with industries. Also, 1,200 skill labs are being inaugurated across Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Schools nationwide.
Modi referred to the problem of migration of youth from Bihar to other states for education and skill development and assured that this will be addressed. He lauded the efforts made by the Nitish Kumar government to strengthen the education system in the state.
He stated that the dispensation in Bihar has been supporting students through the Student Credit Card scheme, and a major decision has now been taken to make the education loans under this scheme interest-free. Additionally, the Prime Minister announced that student scholarships have been increased from ₹1,800 to ₹3,600.
