Pawan Khera: Early trends look like ‘a book by Gyanesh Kumar for Mr. Modi,’ not a poll verdict
As early trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday indicated a clear lead for the NDA in Bihar, the Congress launched a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of siding with the ruling alliance.

Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Opposition was still assessing the numbers but alleged that the trends reflected undue influence within the poll body. “This is just the beginning, and we are waiting. The trends show Gyanesh Kumar Gupta is making an impact on the people of Bihar,” he told reporters.

Khera claimed that voters in Bihar had turned out “despite intimidation and irregularities,” pointing to allegations the party has repeatedly raised through the campaign. “The people have shown great courage despite issues like SIR and ‘vote chori.’”

He said the ultimate outcome would reveal how much influence the Election Commission had exercised during the polling and counting process. “How effective Gyanesh Kumar Gupta will be remains to be seen. This contest is between the Election Commission of India and the people of Bihar.”

Intensifying his criticism, Khera invoked a well-known title to argue that the CEC was acting to please the Prime Minister.

“There was a book called ‘To Serve with Love.’ Gyanesh Kumar Gupta is writing this book for PM Modi," Khera claimed.

The Congress has been consistently alleging that the ECI has acted with bias during the election cycle, a charge the Commission denies. The NDA, meanwhile, continues to consolidate its lead as counting progresses.
