Bihar's new government to be sworn in on November 20 at Gandhi Maidan

The new Bihar government is set to take its oath on November 20 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior NDA leaders expected to grace the occasion, the event promises to be monumental.

The swearing-in of the new Bihar government will be held at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on November 20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several top NDA leaders, including Union ministers, are expected to attend the ceremony.

On Monday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired the final meeting of his cabinet before calling on Governor Arif Mohammad Khan with a resolution to dissolve the assembly. "The CM met the Governor soon after the meeting to apprise him of the cabinet's decision. The council of ministers passed a resolution recommending dissolution of the assembly on November 19," senior JDU leader and state minister Vijay Choudhary said. Nitish was accompanied by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit.

On Tuesday, the JDU legislative party will meet in Patna to elect Nitish Kumar as its leader. The BJP will hold a meeting of its newly elected MLAs on Wednesday to choose its legislature party leader. The party will appoint observers on Tuesday, who will travel to Patna the next morning for the meeting. An NDA legislative party meeting is also scheduled for Wednesday. Sources told ET that Nitish Kumar will meet the Governor and tender his resignation on November 19.


Preparations are underway at Gandhi Maidan for the swearing-in.

BJP Likely to Get 15 cabinet Berths, JDU 13; LJP (RV) 2, Others 1 Each

In the new cabinet, all NDA allies will find representation. Sources said the BJP is set to get 15 berths, the highest, while the JDU will have 13, including the chief minister. LJP (RV), which won 19 seats, is likely to get two berths, while HAM(S) of Jitan Ram Manjhi and RLM of Upendra Kushwaha will get one each.

Some Berths Kept Vacant

Bihar can have up to 36 ministers, and a few positions will be kept vacant for future adjustments. Both the BJP and JDU are considering inducting around half a dozen fresh faces, including women, who are believed to have backed the alliance in large numbers.
