Jan Suraaj has announced Chanchal Singh as its candidate for the Raghopur seat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. This decision comes amidst speculation that Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor might contest from this prominent constituency....

The announcement comes amid speculation that party founder Prashant Kishor might enter the fray from the high-profile seat.
Located in Vaishali district, Raghopur holds significant political importance, having been represented in the past by prominent leaders such as RJD chief and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and their son Tejashwi Yadav.
Lalu Prasad Yadav won from Raghopur twice, while Rabri Devi held the seat three times during her tenure as Chief Minister. Tejashwi Yadav has represented the constituency twice, in 2015 and 2020, serving as both Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition.
The last date for filing nominations for the first phase of the Bihar polls is October 17.
On October 11, Kishor visited Raghopur to meet residents and assess the local mood. When questioned about his possible candidature, he said, “If I have to contest from Raghopur, the people of Raghopur will have to stand with me. And whatever I've seen and understood, I'll present it at the party meeting. In a day or two, we'll know who's contesting.”
Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
