Ahead of the high-stakes political battle in Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday unveiled its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections, scheduled to begin on November 6.

As per the first list consisting of 71 candidates, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will be fighting the polls from Tarapur, Vijay Sinha from Lakhisarai and Mangal Pandey from Siwan. Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin will be contesting polls from Bankipur and Renu Devi to contest from Bettiah.

The Central Election Committee of the BJP met in Delhi on Sunday evening to finalise the tickets for the first list of party candidates. As per the arrangement, the BJP is going to contest 101 of the 243 seats in Bihar. The meeting was attended by PM Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national president JP Nadda, BJP general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, other members of the CEC and senior party leaders from Bihar.


Earlier on Sunday, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar elections, with the BJP and JDU to contest on 101 seats each, the LJP (Ram Vilas) on 29 seats, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha on six seats, and the HindustAwam Morcha (HAM) on six seats.

The NDA partners include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

The Bihar Assembly election for all 243 constituencies is scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11. The counting will take place on November 14.

The Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, Left parties, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), has not yet reached a consensus on seat-sharing. The alliance partners of the grand coalition are working to finalise the seat-sharing agreement and select their candidates.
