Bihar Elections 2025: Tejashwi promises Rs 30,000 to women on Makar Sankranti

RJD leader and chief ministerial candidate of the Opposition alliance Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday upgraded his earlier promise of a financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month to economically disadvantaged women under the 'Mai Bahin scheme', just ahead of the first phase of polling in Bihar assembly election on November 6.

"Now we have decided that ₹30,000 will be transferred in advance (of the entire year) to the accounts of all women in the state under the Mai Bahin scheme on Makar Sankranti on January 14 next year," Yadav said at a press conference in Patna.

The announcement sought to counter the impact of ₹10,000 cash transfer by the NDA government under the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana'. The money has been transferred to 14.1 million women to date by the government.


The RJD leader also announced that farmers would be given ₹300 per quintal of paddy and ₹400 for wheat as a bonus over minimum support price if the INDIA bloc were to come to power in Bihar.

"We are also planning to give honorarium to managers of registered 8,400 primary marketing cooperative societies (vyapar mandals) and primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) in the state. If we form the government, heads of all PACS and vyapar mandals will also be given the status of people's representatives," Yadav said.
