- Voters can visit the official website www.nvsp.in
- Click on the ‘Know Your’ option.
- After entering the EPIC number (the voter ID number printed on the card) and clicking ‘Search’, the website will display the name and location of the polling booth along with the Booth Level Officer’s (BLO) name and contact details.

Alternatively, voters can call the helpline number 1950, adding their city’s STD code before dialing. An SMS with the EPIC number can also be sent to 1950 to receive booth details.
What happens at the polling booth
On election day, once the voter reaches the polling booth, the process involves a few simple steps.- Verification: A polling official verifies the voter’s identity and details using an ID proof.
- Marking and recording: Another official marks the voter’s finger with indelible ink, issues a slip, and asks for a signature on Form 17A.
- Submission and entry: The voter hands over the slip to the next official, shows the inked finger, and is then allowed to enter the voting compartment.
- Casting the vote: Inside the booth, the voter presses the button on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) next to the chosen candidate’s symbol. A beep sound and a red light confirm that the vote has been registered.
- Verification and sealing: The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine prints a slip showing the candidate’s serial number, name, and symbol for seven seconds before it drops into a sealed box.
- NOTA option: Voters who do not wish to vote for any candidate can choose NOTA (None of the Above), which appears as the last option on the EVM.
