Bihar Assembly Elections: Tejashwi Yadav vows to jail ‘goondas’, slams NDA over daylight killings

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav vowed on Sunday that once he is sworn in as Bihar chief minister on Nov 18 he will “send all goondas to jail”, accusing the NDA of allowing opposition functionaries to be “murdered in broad daylight”. He was referring to the killing of strongman-politician Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, a seat now locked in a fierce contest between rival musclemen, reported The Times of India.

“Din-dahade vipaksh ke logon ko goli mari ja raha hai aur sarkar suraksha de rahi hai. Tejashwi sarkar ke aate hi aise goondon ko jail me dalenge (Opposition members are being shot in daylight and govt is protecting the criminals. Once Tejashwi’s govt comes, such goons will be jailed),” he told a rally in Sonepur, urging unity so people could form their “own govt”.

In Mokama, where JDU’s Anant Singh faces RJD’s Veena Devi, wife of ex-MP and strongman Surajbhan Singh, Tejashwi repeated his Nov 18 oath pledge, saying the INDIA bloc was set to win. “Between Nov 26 and Jan 26, all corrupt people and criminals will be in jail,” he said, adding: “Just give me one chance. You gave NDA 20 years. Why can’t you give me 20 months?”


He promised a government job for every family and framed his fight as against “poverty, unemployment, migration, inflation, and corruption”, not against any caste or religion. “Sabko saath lekar chalenge (We will carry everyone along),” he said, committing to inclusive development and transparency.

Tejashwi accused the NDA of protecting criminals and labelled the current situation “maha-jungle raj”, saying multiple murders had occurred across Bihar while the Prime Minister stayed silent. He also dismissed PM Narendra Modi’s recent pledge of one crore jobs in five years: “He ignored employment for 11 years but now suddenly remembers Bihar’s youth. No one believes these empty promises anymore.”

Ending days of speculation about Mahua’s family feud, Tejashwi publicly urged voters to back the official RJD nominee Mukesh Kumar Raushan over his estranged elder brother Tej Pratap: “Work hard for the victory of the RJD candidate from Mahua. There must be no confusion... Lalten jalega tab na Tejashwi sarkar banayega (Tejashwi’s govt will be formed only when the lantern [RJD symbol] burns bright).”
