The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025, which will be conducted in two phases — November 6 (Phase I) and November 11 (Phase II). The vote counting will take place on November 14, 2025. The election calendar also specifies important dates for notifications, nominations, scrutiny, and withdrawals.

A total of 121 assembly seats will be contested in the first phase, and 122 seats in the second phase, covering all 243 constituencies. The current assembly’s term ends on November 22, 2025, and 2,616 candidates are in the race for both phases.

Phase-wise Bihar Election 2025 Schedule

Phase 1:


  • Issue of Gazette Notification: October 10, 2025
  • Last Date for Nominations: October 17, 2025
  • Scrutiny of Nominations: October 18, 2025
  • Last Date for Withdrawal: October 20, 2025
  • Polling Date: November 6, 2025
  • Election Result: November 14, 2025
Phase 2:

  • Issue of Gazette Notification: October 13, 2025
  • Last Date for Nominations: October 20, 2025
  • Scrutiny of Nominations: October 21, 2025
  • Last Date for Withdrawal: October 23, 2025

Voting and Counting Details

Polling for both phases will be conducted from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Voters standing in queues after 5 PM will still be allowed to cast their votes. The counting of votes for all 243 constituencies will take place on November 14, 2025, which will determine the formation of the next Bihar government.

Key Candidate: Samrat Choudhary (BJP)

In the Tarapur constituency of Munger district, BJP leader Samrat Choudhary is gearing up for an electoral contest against Arun Shah from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

Key Candidate: Tejashwi Yadav (RJD)

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, is poised for a high-profile contest in the Raghopur Assembly seat against Satish Kumar (BJP) of the NDA and Chanchal Kumar (JSP).

3. Mahua

Key Candidate: Tej Pratap Yadav

Independent MLA and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, will contest from the Mahua constituency in Vaishali district during the first phase of the Bihar elections. He will face RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan, the sitting MLA, and LJP’s Sanjay Singh.

4. Alinagar

Key Candidate: Maithili Thakur (BJP)

Folk singer and BJP’s cultural representative Maithili Thakur will contest the Alinagar seat in Darbhanga district, where she will take on RJD candidate Binod Mishra and JSP’s Biplaw Kumar Chowdhary in the first phase of the elections.
