“The digital transformation and disruptions are less apparent in India than one would expect. The traditional media are very strong and powerful, and they remain pretty powerful than elsewhere,” Sorrell said.
He is looking for making some acquisition in India, as part of S4 Capital’ growth plan. Sorrell who left WPP following allegations of personal misconduct in 2018, is still the largest individual shareholder in WPP. Sorrell earlier acquired Dutch digital advertising and production agency Media Monks and San Francisco-based programmatic advertising firm MightyHive.
Talking about prospects for Indian advertising market, he said that India is very important not just because of opportunities in data, content and programmatic but as a technological hub. And that the country’s image has become stronger from a perception and branding point of view now than it was few years ago.
“I remain a raging Indian bull,” he said.
