Market Now: Nifty FMCG index up; Dabur, ITC among gainers

NEW DELHI: Gains in shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 4.04 per cent), Dabur India (up 3.86 per cent) and Godrej Consumer Products (up 3.50 per cent) were keeping the Nifty FMCG index firm in the positive territory in afternoon trade on Wednesday.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.63 per cent up at 26,108 around 12:55 pm (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 110 points up at 10,445, while the BSE Sensex was 411 points up at 33,624.

Shares of United Breweries (up 2.90 per cent), ITC (up 1.79 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 1.74 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (up 1.40 per cent) were also trading in the green around that time.

However, Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 2.25 per cent) and Marico (down 0.10 per cent) were the two stocks in the index that were trading in the red.

Over 120 stocks, including Bata India, Bharti Airtel, Dabur India, Delta Corp, Dewan Housing Finance Corporation, Emami, Godrej Properties and ICICI Bank hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Wednesday's trade so far.

On the contrary, Gemini Communication, Hindustan Media Ventures, Stampede Capital, Supreme Tex Mart and TV Vision were among those 10 stocks that hit new 52-week lows on NSE.
