Market Now: Nifty breaches 9,800 level but these stocks surge over 10%

NEW DELHI: The NSE benchmark Nifty50 broke below the 9,800 mark during intraday trade on Monday but stocks of KSS (50 per cent), Shekhawati Poly (25 per cent), V Mart Retail (18.96 per cent), Palred Technologies (18.09 per cent), Essar Shipping (13.65 per cent) and Mukta Arts (11.09 per cent) surged over 10 per cent to defy the negative market sentiment.

Moreover, stocks such as Sanghvi Movers (9.98 per cent), KIOCL (9.97 per cent), Moser Baer (8.79 per cent), NCL Industries (8.65 per cent), Intrasoft Tech (8.48 per cent), Lloyd Electric (8.42 per cent), VIP Industries (8.33 per cent), Everest Kanto (8.06 per cent) and IOL Chemicals (8.01 per cent) also registered significant gains.

In the Nifty pack, Axis bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Vedanta, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra and Eicher Motors were top gainers.

On the other hand, Infosys, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharti Infratel, Dr Reddy's, Bank of Baroda and Hindustan Unilever were the top losers.

Barring bank and metal index, all other sectoral indices were in the red on NSE.

Nifty50 index was trading 33 points lower at 9,804, while the 30-share Sensex was 130 points down at 31,394 around 1.55 pm (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 20 stocks were trading in green, while 31 stocks were in red.
