Market Now: BSE Capital Goods index extends gains; Suzlon Energy top gainer

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Capital Goods index rose over 2 per cent in Monday's trade, extending the gains for the third consecutive session.

The BSE Capital Goods index was trading 2.03 per cent up at 18,012 around 12.40 pm (IST), with shares of Suzlon Energy (up 5.57 per cent) and Siemens (up 4.96 per cent) surging up to 5 per cent.

Havells India (up 2.52 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 2.46 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (up 2.39 per cent), Greaves Cotton (up 1.29 per cent) and ABB India (up 1.27 per cent) also registered decent gains.

However, SKF India (down 1.12 per cent), AIA Engineering (down 0.52 per cent), Finolex Cables (down 0.44 per cent), Va Tech Wabag (down 0.42 per cent) and Schaeffler India (down 0.31 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.

Equity benchmarks remained in the positive territory, with Sensex rising over 200 points and Nifty50 reclaiming 10,000-mark.

Positive Asian cues and sustained buying in bank, realty, auto and FMCG stocks kept markets aloft.

Among the sectoral gainers, oil & gas, power and finance rose more than 1 per cent on BSE.

However, IT and telecom indices looked dull. Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Infosys and Oracle Financial Services Software were losing in trade.

Larsen & Toubro, Maruti, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank and Coal India were the top gainers in Sensex kitty.

Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India and Infosys were the top losers in the Sensex chart.

40 Stocks were trading in the green in the Nifty pack, while 11 were in red.
