Market Now: Bank stocks rise; HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank top gainers

The S&P BSE Bankex index was trading 1.05 per cent up at 27667 around 10.55 am (IST). Benchmark Nifty50 index was 0.67 per cent up at 10,163, while Sensex was 0.74 per cent up at 32,420 around that time.

Axis Bank (up 1.02 per cent), State Bank of India (up 0.81 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (up 0.43 per cent) gained up to 1 per cent.
Federal Bank (down 0.89 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.22 per cent) were trading in the red around that time.
Shares of JP Associates, Reliance Communications, South Indian Bank, Idea Cellular, Coal India, Bombay Dyeing, Manappuram Fin, Hind Const Co, Future Cons Ent, IDFC, ITC, JSW Energy were among most traded securities on NSE.
Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Coal India, Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries and Hindustan Unilever were the top gainers among the Sensex stocks.
Dr Reddy's, NTPC, ITC, Maruti Suzuki and Sun Pharma were the top losers.
On the BSE, 1,401 stocks were advancing whereas 841 stocks were lagging and 95 stocks were appearing unchanged.
