This is Abhinav Kaul and I will take you through the motions of today’s session on Dalal Street and bring you cues and trading tips from market veterans for Tuesday’s session.

Domestic equity markets kicked off the week on a dull note as the key benchmark indices registered losses following weak global cues.

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 166 points down at 31,095 on Monday.

Market sentiment turned cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve policy meeting, which begins on Tuesday.

Infosys, Sun Pharma, Hindustan Unilever and Cipla stood among top gainers in the BSE Sensex.

On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors, Wipro, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Auto stood top losers in the index.

Stock futures of Indiabulls Real Estate saw the biggest jump in open interest. It was followed by Ujjivan Financial Services, Titan, Bank of India and Reliance Communications.

NSE Nifty index opened negative and corrected towards the 9,600 zone. It made a small bearish candle on the daily chart and started to form lower highs – lower lows from last two sessions. The 50-share index closed nearly 52 points down at 9,616.
