Share market update: Metal shares decline; Hindalco slips 5%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with losses in Thursday's session.

Shares of Hindalco Industries (down 5.02 per cent) , JSW Steel (down 3.87 per cent) , Jindal Steel & Power (down 3.6 per cent) , NMDC Ltd (down 3.4 per cent) , Tata Steel (down 2.8 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (down 2.29 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (down 2.26 per cent) , MOIL (down 2.08 per cent) , Coal India (down 1.26 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 0.41 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (down 0.19 per cent) and Ratnamani Metals & Tubes (down 0.14 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.48 per cent down at 1717.0 around 02:07PM.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 219.55 points at 9164.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 795.89 points at 31212.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.

Shares of BHEL, Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, Adani Power, Federal Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, NTPC and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
