Luke Coutinho’s tiramisu overnight oats use hung curd instead of traditional mascarpone, helping create the dessert’s creamy texture while adding probiotics. Made without refined sugar, the recipe provides 13g of protein and 15g of healthy fats, making it a more nourishing way to enjoy a sweet treat while supporting gut health and satiety.
Tiramisu oats: Ingredients required
Rolled oats – ½ cupAlmond milk – ¾ cup
Chia seeds – 1 tbsp
Espresso or strong brewed coffee – 1 shot
Thick hung curd – 4 tbsp
Unsweetened cocoa powder – 1 tsp (for dusting)
Cacao nibs – 1 tsp (for topping)
Maple syrup or stevia – optional (for mild sweetness)
Tiramisu oats: How to make
Build the base: Add rolled oats and almond milk to a jar or glass and stir until well combined. The oats provide complex carbohydrates along with slow-digesting fibre, helping provide steady energy.Add chia and espresso: Mix in the chia seeds, followed by a shot of espresso. Chia seeds add plant-based omega-3 fatty acids and fibre, while coffee may support blood circulation and mental alertness.
Layer the probiotic cream: Spread 4 tablespoons of thick hung curd over the oat mixture, creating a smooth, creamy layer. Its texture resembles mascarpone, while its probiotics support gut health and it contributes quality protein.
Garnish & chill: Sprinkle unsweetened cocoa powder and cacao nibs over the top for a chocolatey finish and added antioxidants. Cover the jar and refrigerate overnight, or allow it to set for at least 3–4 hours before serving.
