Who is Abir Singh? Salman Khan's bodyguard Shera's son is reportedly set to make Bollywood debut alongside Sooraj Pancholi

Salman Khan's longtime bodyguard Gurmeet Singh Jolly, popularly known as Shera, has been a familiar face around the superstar for several years. Now, attention has once again turned to Shera's son Abir Singh, who is reportedly preparing to enter Bollywood as an actor. While plans for his debut have been discussed for a few years, a new report has once again brought his name into the spotlight.

According to a Filmfare report, Abir is set to make his acting debut with a film reportedly titled Tarzan. The action-drama is said to feature actor Sooraj Pancholi alongside him. However, there is no official confirmation yet about the film's cast, production or whether Salman Khan will be involved in backing the project.

Who is Abir Singh, Shera's son?

Abir Singh is the son of Gurmeet Singh Jolly, better known as Shera, who has been Salman Khan's trusted bodyguard for decades. Through his father, Abir has grown up with a close connection to the Hindi film industry and has also had an association with Salman.




Abir is reportedly keen on making a career in films and has already gained some experience behind the camera. He worked as an assistant director on Salman's Sultan, the 2016 sports drama directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The experience gave him an opportunity to understand the working of a major Bollywood production before taking the step towards acting.

Abir has also spoken about his equation with Salman Khan and considers the superstar his mentor and godfather. His father Shera has similarly remained an important figure in his life. With his family connections and early experience in filmmaking, Abir has been preparing for a Bollywood career for some time.

Salman Khan had earlier planned Abir's launch

This is not the first time reports about Abir's Bollywood debut have surfaced. In 2022, reports claimed that Salman Khan was planning to introduce Shera's son as an actor. The superstar was reportedly in talks with filmmaker Satish Kaushik to direct Abir's launch film.

The project was expected to begin shooting in January 2023, but there was little information about it afterwards. Satish Kaushik's sudden death in March 2023 further raised questions around the project and Abir's planned debut.

The latest report has now suggested that Abir's launch could happen with Tarzan. The film is reportedly being planned as an action-drama and is expected to feature Sooraj Pancholi. However, whether this is the same project that was previously being planned or an entirely new film remains unclear.

There is also no confirmation on whether Salman will produce the film. Given his long association with Shera and his history of introducing new actors, his possible involvement has naturally become a talking point.

Salman Khan has launched several actors

Salman Khan has played a major role in introducing several newcomers to Bollywood over the years. Sonakshi Sinha made her acting debut opposite him in Dabangg, while Zareen Khan entered the industry with Veer. Daisy Shah made her Bollywood debut with Jai Ho, and Saiee Manjrekar was introduced in Dabangg 3.

The actor-producer also launched Warina Hussain and his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in Loveyatri. However, Salman has not officially confirmed that he will be backing Abir's reported debut in Tarzan.

Interestingly, Sooraj Pancholi, who is reportedly part of Tarzan, also has a Salman Khan connection. He made his Bollywood debut with Hero, which was produced by Salman. The 2015 romantic action film also marked Athiya Shetty's acting debut.

While details about Tarzan are still awaited, Abir's reported entry into Bollywood is likely to attract attention because of his close association with one of the industry's biggest stars.

Meanwhile, Salman has several projects lined up. Maatrubhumi, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is awaiting a new release date after its earlier schedule was pushed. He is also working on Vamshi Paidipally's SVC63, which stars Nayanthara and is currently in post-production. The film is expected to arrive during the Eid release window next year.
