Modi, who has been re-elected as PM for a second consecutive term, is set to take the oath of office at 7 pm today
Today, all eyes are on the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi, who has been re-elected as PM for a second consecutive term, is set to take the oath of office at 7 pm today. The mega event has a lengthy guest list including names of eminent politicians, sports leaders, actors, diplomats and leading industrialists from around the world. Business tycoons like Mukesh Ambani and Bill Gates to leading actresses like Kangana Ranaut are expected to witness the PM and his cabinet of ministers take the oath at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
However, it's not just the guest list but also menu for the event that has been grabbing attention. While lemon tarts, samosas and sandwiches are going to grace the high tea, a culinary marvel named ‘Dal Raisina’ is expected to rule the dinner menu.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan’s special in-house innovation has two key ingredients: whole black lentils (urad dal) and saffron-flavoured tomato puree. However, it's not just the flavour of this dish that is making headlines. Chefs are also getting into a clash with respect to the amount of time it takes to cook 'Dal Raisina'. Chef Machindra Kasture, who made the dish for the first time in 2010, claims that the dal takes six to eight hours to cook. However, Rashtrapati Bhavan's current chef, Monty Saini, begs to differ. Saini believes that the dal takes a whopping 48 hours to cook.
