As per a report by Money Control, the director bought the flat along with his wife - actress Pallavi Joshi. The flat is located in the posh Versova neighbourhood of Mumbai’s upscale suburb Andheri. The luxurious apartment is located on the 30th floor of the building and is spread over a 3,258 square feet area. It comes with 3 parking slots. The value of the apartment per sq ft, is reportedly not less than Rs 55,000.
The duo is said to have paid a stamp duty of Rs 1.07 crore for the registration of the deal.
Agnihotri is best known for the 2022 political drama ‘The Kashmir Files’. The film explores the 1990s exodus of the native Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley. The film was released in theatres in March 2022, amidst much controversy. It was criticised for its biased portrayal of Kashmiri Muslims and for aggravating communal tensions between Hindus and Muslims. However, despite the fierce opposition, the movie eventually went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Made on a shoestring budget of Rs 15-20 crores, it minted more than Rs 340.92 crores. The film had an ensemble cast include many well-known faces such as Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, etc.
The director is busy with his next project which will be another political drama. Titled ‘The Delhi Files’, the film is rumoured to be based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. This will also be the last instalment of the ‘Files’ trilogy (the first being ‘The Tashkent Files’). In an interview with Firstpost, the ‘Hate Story’ director explained his plan in detail, “ ‘The Delhi Files’ will mark the end of the ‘Files’ trilogy. No amount of money can convince me to turn the ‘Files’ into a franchise. It was always supposed to be a trilogy. That’s the way I have envisioned it from day one. I am not going to think, 'The audience is addicted to the franchise, so let’s make one more' , ” he was quoted as saying to the online news website.
