Teary-eyed Karan Johar pays tribute to Sidharth Shukla on 'Bigg Boss' OTT, says he is 'numb, can't breathe'

The film-maker worked with Shukla in his 2014 production 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'.

The sudden death of TV star and actor Sidharth Shukla has shocked many. Shukla, who became a household name in India after his feature in TV show 'Balika Vadhu', died on September 2. He was 40.

The actor's popularity soared during the lockdown as he entered the 'Bigg Boss' house for season 13. With his honesty, goofiness and compassion, many saw a whole new side to Shukla, completely unfiltered on the show. As the nation continues to mourn his passing, 'Bigg Boss' and film-maker and producer Karan Johar paid a heart-touching tribute to the actor on the ongoing 'Bigg Boss OTT'. As Johar took the stage to remember Shukla, he was seen fighting back his tears. "Sidharth Shukla was a name that had become an important part of our lives. He was the favourite member of the Bigg Boss family. A friend, not only to me but countless others from our industry. He has left us all," Johar said.

The film-maker, who worked with Shukla in his 2014 production 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, said that the actor's passing had left him "numb". "This is something we are all still finding hard to believe. It is like I am numb, I can't even breathe."


Johar called Shukla a "good son, great friend and an amazing guy." "Sid was a good son, a great friend and an amazing guy to be around, to be with. His positive vibe, his smile won so many millions of hearts. The love showered by millions of his fans is a proof of how popular and loved he was. Rest in peace, Sidharth Shukla. You shall be missed forever," Johar concludes emotionally.


When the news of Shukla's passing had come out, Johar was one of the people who had paid condolences to the late actor on social media. “I want to always remember your warm smile and your kind heart… Rip dearest Sidharth,” Johar had written.

Shukla, who was rushed to a Mumbai hospital on Thursday, was declared brought dead by doctors. The exact reason behind his death has not been declared yet. Several reports suggest that the model-turned-actor died due to a heart attack.

On Friday, he was cremated at Oshiwara crematorium. Shukla's mother Rita Shukla, sisters and rumoured girlfriend Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, who was accompanied by her brother Shehbaz were present at the crematorium.
