The Soho House, which opened its doors on 5th November 2018, was the only Indian entry to feature in ‘To Stay’ section.
Soho House Mumbai, the only outpost from the brand in Asia, featured on TIME’s second annual list of 100 “new and newly noteworthy destinations to experience right now”, just months after its launch.
Mumbai got a rare honour recently when its very own Soho House Mumbai (the first Soho House in Asia) made an appearance on TIME magazine’s second annual list of the world’s greatest places, just months after its launch in India. The House, which opened its doors on 5th November 2018, was the only Indian entry to feature in ‘To Stay’ section.
“We are extremely happy to be listed on the Time’s list and would like to thank Time Magazine for this great honour. It is a great achievement and a proud feeling to be acknowledged for the hard work we have put in,” said Joe Eva, general manager of Soho House Mumbai. “All our employees and members are overjoyed and proud for Soho House Mumbai to be part of the coveted list.”
“We are already seeing a very robust increase in membership applications over last few months and this announcement has certainly created more excitement for our membership.”
An 11-storey building overlooking the Arabian Sea in Juhu, Soho House Mumbai is a members-only space open to people working in creative industries. It features 38 bedrooms, a floor of members’ space, gym, rooftop pool, a 32-seat screening room and over 200 artworks from South East Asian artists.
According to TIME magazine, the main draw of Soho House, Mumbai was its local spin. “The unique feel comes in the shape of block-printed fabrics from Rajasthan; handwoven cane furniture; environmentally sustainable, sari-coated lampshades; and some 200 art pieces by mostly South Asian artists, including Bharti Kher and Subodh Gupta,” wrote the magazine.
