Fitness doesn’t depend on just working out or having a curated diet. In an old interview, which has gone viral, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is seen admitting that he doesn’t have a fixed, proper diet, but believes in eating clean. He stated: “I don’t follow a diet.” He then explained he ate a lot of sprouts, grilled chicken. He also included cruciferous vegetables like broccoli in his diet. Like any other desi, he is also a lover of pulses and sometimes ate some daal.

He also admitted that he’s still a foodie at heart and whenever he visits a friends’ house, whatever is on the menu - paratha, biryani or lassi, he has some of it.

Sprouts are considered an excellent food for weight management because they combine exceptional nutrition with very few calories. They are filling, nutrient-rich, and naturally support portion control, making it easier to stay in a calorie deficit without constantly feeling hungry. During the sprouting process, seeds and legumes undergo natural biochemical changes that increase the availability of vitamins and minerals while lowering their starch content, making them easier for the body to digest and utilize.

How Sprouts Support Healthy Weight Loss

Low in Calories, High in Bulk

A generous serving of sprouts usually contains only about 30 to 100 calories, depending on the type. Their high water and fiber content allows you to eat satisfying portions while keeping overall calorie intake under control.

Promote Lasting Fullness

As per an article published on Medanta, sprouts are rich in dietary fiber and plant protein, two nutrients that slow digestion and help you stay full for longer. This prolonged feeling of satisfaction reduces hunger between meals and minimizes unnecessary snacking.

Help Stabilize Blood Sugar

The germination process decreases the amount of starch present in seeds and legumes, giving sprouts a relatively low glycemic index. As a result, they support steadier blood sugar levels, reduce sharp insulin fluctuations, and help limit cravings for sugary foods that often lead to overeating.

Support Efficient Metabolism

Sprouting boosts the levels of essential nutrients such as B vitamins, iron, and naturally occurring enzymes. These nutrients play an important role in converting food into energy and supporting the body's normal metabolic functions, which are essential for healthy weight management.

Improve Nutrient Absorption

Soaking and sprouting significantly reduce naturally occurring compounds such as phytic acid and tannins that can interfere with the absorption of minerals. With fewer of these antinutrients, the body is able to absorb more beneficial nutrients, helping maintain energy levels and nutritional balance while following a calorie-controlled eating plan.
