Sivakarthikeyan's Madharasi hit the theatres on September 5 and its digital streaming rights has been acquired by Prime Video.
Sivakarthikeyan is back on the big screen, this time teaming up with blockbuster filmmaker AR Murugadoss for the first time in Madharasi. Released in theatres on September 5, the psychological action thriller has already set fans buzzing, with Sivakarthikeyan’s performance earning praise even as critics remain divided. Packed with high-octane action, emotional depth, and a gripping premise, the movie has also drawn attention for roping in Bollywood’s Vidyut Jammwal as the menacing antagonist.

Digital streaming partner after theatrical release

According to reports from 123Telugu, Madharasi will stream on Prime Video after its theatrical run, likely around four weeks post-release. Produced by N.V. Prasad under Sri Lakshmi Movies, the film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Story of Madharasi

Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, Madharasi tells the story of Raghu, a young man battling Fregoli delusion, a rare psychological condition where he mistakes strangers for his lost family members. His life takes a dramatic turn when NIA officer Premnath, injured while trying to stop a North India-based gun-smuggling syndicate, recruits him for a dangerous mission to infiltrate and destroy the syndicate’s weapons factory.

The film blends action with an emotional backstory. Through flashbacks, we see Raghu’s romance with Malathi (played by Rukmini Vasanth), a dental student and singer who eventually distances herself after realising how his condition endangers lives. Meanwhile, in the present, Raghu risks everything to stop syndicate leaders Virat and Chirag, who flood Tamil Nadu with free weapons to create demand. His mission tests not only his courage but also the limits of his fragile mental state.
