Kannada cinema’s biggest surprise hit of the year, Su From So, is finally ready to make its way to streaming. What started as a small release with hardly any pre-release hype quickly snowballed into a blockbuster phenomenon, powered purely by word of mouth. From opening at just Rs 78 lakh to crossing Rs 43 crore net in India within two weeks, the film went on to rake in over Rs 120 crore worldwide. Now, fans who missed it in theatres have their chance to catch it online.
The makers have confirmed that Su From So will stream on Jio Hotstar from September 9. The film had earlier been rumoured to arrive on September 5, which left fans disappointed when it didn’t appear on the platform. But the wait won’t be long, as the movie has now been officially listed in the streamer’s catalogue.

Directed by debutant J. P. Thuminad, the film is produced by Shashidhar Shetty Baroda, Ravi Rai Kalasa, and Raj B. Shetty under Lighter Buddha Films. It features Shaneel Gautham in the lead, along with J. P. Thuminad, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash Thuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Mime Ramdas, and Raj B. Shetty. Released theatrically on July 25, 2025, the film became the highest-grossing Kannada release of the year, credited with reviving footfalls in cinemas.

Set in the coastal village of Marlur near Someshwara, Su From So blends horror, comedy, and social drama. The story follows Ashoka, a carefree villager whose innocent crush accidentally sparks rumours that he is possessed by a ghost named Sulochana. The misunderstanding throws the entire community into chaos, as superstition and gossip spiral out of control. Along the way, the film delves into the life of Sulochana’s daughter, Bhanu, whose struggles give depth to the haunting legend.
