At 60, Salman Khan’s physique remains a talking point every time the actor shares a gym picture or appears shirtless on screen. But behind the muscular image is not a new-age fitness hack or a short-term transformation. According to his longtime trainer, Rakkesh R. Uddiyar, Salman Khan’s approach has largely been built around consistency, strength training and a bodybuilding routine he has followed for decades. The actor’s fitness has once again drawn attention in 2026, after Uddiyar spoke about Slaman Khan’s strength and discipline, while the actor himself has acknowledged that his body is still a “work in progress”.

Salman Khan’s Strength Training Has Stayed Consistent For Decades

Salman's relationship with weight training goes back to the early years of his Bollywood career. His trainer Rakkesh R. Uddiyar, who has worked with him for more than 20 years, has previously described his approach as an “old-school” bodybuilding routine based on giant sets. Rather than concentrating only on lifting extremely heavy weights, Bhaijaan's workouts emphasise volume. Uddiyar told Mint that the actor can perform around 10 variations of chest exercises in a session, including incline movements, push-ups and flys.

In a 2026 interview with Zoom, Uddiyar again highlighted Salman's strength, saying, “Salman Khan’s secret is discipline, dedication, and determination.” He also revealed that Salman Khan has previously performed 10 exercises at a time, with a minimum of 20 repetitions per set.

What Does Salman Khan’s Workout Routine Look Like?

One of the most striking aspects of Salman's routine is its intensity. His trainer has said that the actor often moves from one exercise to another with very little rest, creating a high-volume, high-intensity session. Uddiyar told The Indian Express that Salman generally trains six days a week and keeps one day for rest. Even when filming action sequences or dance-heavy portions, weight training remains an important part of the routine, although cardio may occasionally be reduced depending on his schedule. The sessions are also relatively time-efficient. According to Uddiyar, Salman Khan typically aims to finish his workout within about 45 minutes to an hour rather than spending several hours in the gym.

His regular exercises have historically included bench presses, weight training, treadmill work, push-ups, sit-ups, planks and circuit training. Cycling has also been part of his fitness routine. The Times of India reported that Salman has continued to cycle during his free time, alongside his gym workouts.

Why Consistency Matters More Than A Celebrity Workout

Salman Khan’s routine is notable because it has evolved without abandoning the fundamentals. His trainer has repeatedly stressed discipline rather than a constantly changing programme. That consistency has also been evident during demanding film schedules. In 2025, The Indian Express reported that Bhaijaan continued working out and cycling while dealing with a rib injury during the making of Sikandar. His co-star Vikaas Verma recalled seeing the actor cycle to and from the set and still train in the gym. That does not mean exercising through an injury is advisable for everyone. Instead, Salman's long career illustrates how professional athletes and actors often modify training according to their physical condition and work demands.

Salman Khan’s Fitness Is Not Just About Weights

Strength training is only one part of Salman Khan’s broader fitness routine. His trainer has previously spoken about cardio, diet and the actor’s preference for simple, home-cooked food. For film roles requiring a leaner or more athletic appearance, his training and diet can become more structured. Ahead of Battle of Galwan, for example, reports said Salman Khan combined weight training with running and cardio as part of his preparation for the physically demanding role. The bigger lesson from his routine is therefore less about copying a particular exercise and more about maintaining a sustainable approach to fitness.

The Bigger Fitness Lesson From Salman Khan

Salman Khan’s physique has changed over the years, but his commitment to training has remained remarkably consistent. His trainer’s accounts suggest that there is no single secret exercise behind his longevity: strength work, volume, cardio, recovery and disciplined eating have all played a role.

At 60, Salman Khan has also been candid about not always being in his peak shape. As he recently put it, his physique is still a “work in progress”. And perhaps that is the most relatable part of his fitness journey. For Khan, staying fit has never been about reaching one permanent finish line. It has been about continuing to train, adapting with age and returning to the basics whenever necessary.
