‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ first look: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looks ethereal as Queen Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s first-look poster for film-maker Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ has been unveiled. The actress, who was last seen in the 2018 drama ‘Fanney Khan’, is seen in a royal avatar in the official poster of the epic action film.

Earlier this week, the production house revealed the first-look posters of Vikram and Karthi. ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ is Aishwarya’s fourth collaboration with the maverick film-maker. The former Miss World began her career with Ratnam’s ‘Iruvar’ and went on to act in his ambitious projects such as ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavanan’.

The first look of Aishwarya was revealed on the official Twitter handle of Lyca Productions.


“Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada,” read the tweet by Lyca Productions.
Aishwarya will reportedly be seen in dual roles - Nandini the queen of Pazhuvoor and Mandakini Devi. A R Rahman has scored the music for the film that will hit the screens on September 30. The film will be released in two parts.

‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ is expected to be the Tamil film industry's first pan-Indian film in 2022. The epic period drama will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The film has cinematography by Ravi Varman. ‘PS:1’ is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

Apart from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film also stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Rahman, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The film is said to be made on a whopping Rs 500 crores.
