On the grapevine: When a once-leading corporate name went MIA

Amidst rumours of conflict of interest, a corporate honcho had to step away.

This corporate boss shows that you can’t bank on past laurels — one day you are the toast of India Inc, and the next, an outsider. With rumours of conflict of interest, this once-leading name had to step away and make room for some internal inquiries.

“I would recommend 'Strategy Beyond The Hockey Stick'. It’s a book by three McKinsey Partners, Chris Bradley, Martin Hirt, and Sven Smit. It’s a prescription for success. In my downtime I watch TEDex videos and because I am a pilot, a lot of flying races too.”

It’s very interesting to read the books together and see how similar we are even though we are a hundred years apart.”

“My favourite book is 'Silicon Valley' by Christoph Keese, which talks about digitalisation, what’s happening in Silicon Valley… the spirit and the vibe of it. I’m currently also watching a Spanish show 'House of Money' that shows how eight people spent months planning to rob a bank. It’s has a similar vibe to Ocean’s Eleven.”
