But in their heyday, when bank loans were easier to come, they dealt in cold hard cash. The story goes that around a decade ago, when the senior businessman was decorating his mansion, he shopped at a furniture store in South Mumbai. He is said to have bought a Rs 30-lakh bed and the store had to depute four staffers to verify the payment using cash counting machines. Of course, that was in better times.
Today, it would be wise for the troubled kin to sleep with an eye open.
