On the grapevine: When a culinary star left patrons unhappy and organisers to clean the mess

Taste is a matter of interpretation. Some things leave a good taste in your mouth; others not so much.

Like the recent visit of a famous chef who left a big hole in the pocket of the guests — and very little to gush about on their plate.

Undoubtedly, it was a ‘gulp’ moment for the organisers, who had no choice but to swallow the negative feedback that came their way. Not ones to badmouth their chef celebre, they explained away the mess saying that there were a lot of stakeholders involved in the planning and organising of the event; that they would prefer not to comment; that there were some “who were very happy”.


While the last statement might be a tad difficult to digest, full marks to them for not dishing out the dirt on their culinary star.
