Apart from the licence to drive his luxe cars (read Ferrari and Rolls Royce), Divyank Turakhia also has one to drive a bus.

When Media.net founder Divyank Turakhia finds himself dealing with a new subject, he prepares by speedreading multiple and even contradictory viewpoints on the subject. He says he likes to soak in as much information as he can about the matter. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the businessman got a bus licence years ago to ensure that his employees’ commute to work was comfortable.

“More than a decade ago, we [my brother Bhavin and I] were planning to get a bus to drop our employees home. I thought if we are getting a bus, then I should be able to drive one. So, I went ahead and got myself a licence. It’s fun,” says Turakhia, who has a line of luxury cars at his disposal. Of course, his interest isn’t restricted to four-wheelers.

As he adds later in the conversation with ETPanache, “I enjoy driving everything. I’ll drive a scooter, a bike, a car (even one that is totally broken down), planes, helicopters and buses. If it can be driven, I’ll drive it.”

The 36-year-old’s first car was a grey Hyundai Santro, which he had bought at age 18. Today, his collection has expanded considerably. It includes a Ferrari 458 Spider (at his house in Los Angeles), a Rolls Royce Phantom (in Dubai), an Audi A8 (in Dubai), a Mercedes S-class, a DC-modified Innova (in Mumbai), and a few others. He struggles to elaborate on the “few others”, as he isn’t sure of the number of cars he owns.

“I have no idea. I’d say more than five, less than 15. There are home cars because someone decided to get some car at one of the houses. But the primary ones I use are the ones I mentioned,” Turakhia says.
