No room for anxiety in Nikhil Kamath's WFH routine, Zerodha boss finds atmosphere at home relaxing
Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath goes to office with a skeletal staff. But he sees the merit in staying indoors.

He chooses to be pragmatic about the times we live in. His approach is understandable since he works from home and also goes to office with a skeletal staff, as financial services have been allowed to operate since a couple of weeks. “I’ve probably been exposed to the virus already. I do think all of us will get Covid-19 at some point,” Kamath says from Bengaluru.
If not for the coronavirus, Kamath would prefer going to office most days. “I have always been a work-out-of-office person. So this [WFH] is new to me,” he says. “But I find the atmosphere at home a lot more relaxing and pleasurable as a work setting.”
His pro-tip while working from home: “Don’t work in your bedroom. It can make you lazy. Sit at a dining table or desk instead.” Kamath believes that long-term benefits will accrue from the WFH culture.
“We have around 600 employees in our sales team who are currently working from home. There is a huge cost being saved in terms of infrastructure, travel time being cut down and productivity going up,” he says.
Kamath has more reasons to enjoy working from home. He can relax with his two 15-month old Boxers, Calvin and Hobbes. Else, he can play pool with his older brother and business partner, Nithin, or immerse himself in Plato’s writings when he wants to take a break.
