We all fall prey to snacking during sudden hunger pangs. However, packaged, ready-to-eat, and sugary munchies are often loaded with calories, refined carbohydrates, and fats that can affect our overall health. Sandwiches are a popular evening snack, known for their diverse flavours and variety. Yet, many of them are filled with too much cream, mayonnaise and sauces and may not always be the healthiest option. But sandwich lovers, there’s a more nutritious alternative. Mumbai nutritionist Vanshika Khurana has shared the recipe for a creamy and spicy sandwich, packed with 20 g of protein.

Sandwich: Ingredients required

  • 2 slices of double protein bread
  • 80-90 g high-protein paneer
  • 1 tbsp peri peri masala
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Oil spray (2–3 sprays)
  • 4-6 cucumber slices
  • 2 beetroot slices
  • 3-4 tomato slices
  • 1 cheese slice
  • 1 tbsp Schezwan chutney
  • 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt
  • Black pepper to taste

Sandwich: How to make

Preparing the sandwich is quite easy and can be a great option if you want something quick and hassle-free. First, coat the paneer evenly with peri peri masala before spraying a pan lightly with oil. Next, sprinkle some sesame seeds and shallow-fry the paneer on both sides until they turn slightly crisp and golden.

After that, you have to mix the Schezwan chutney with the Greek yoghurt until they turn absolutely thick and smooth. Then, take one bread slice and spread the sauce before adding the peri peri paneer, followed by the cheese slice, cucumber, beetroot, and tomato slices.

In the following step, sprinkle black pepper and close the sandwich with the second bread slice before toasting until crisp. And voila! Your healthy sandwich with only 450 calories is ready to be served and enjoyed hot on the plate.
