Keerthy Suresh once lost 9 kgs without excessive gym hours or even dieting
Keerthy Suresh is one of the most beautiful actresses down South. Known for blockbusters like Mahanati, Dasara, Remo, etc., the actress is known for her enchanting on-screen presence as well as her svelte physique. In a 2025 interview, the actress said how she lost 9 kg without protein shakes or spending hours at the gym. In a chat with Behindwoods, the actress said she had a lot of egg whites (six to seven) along with other healthy foods such as paneer, tofu, soya, and pulses, but no protein shakes.

The actress also said that she had never done any diet nor followed trends such as keto, and she always ate what she wanted, only ensuring she ate foods that were high in protein and low in calories.

In an earlier interview with Behindwoods, the Mahanati actress revealed that she had been naturally slender during her childhood and teenage years and had rarely engaged in physical exercise. She explained that she had never followed a workout routine before turning 18 and had not participated in sports either.

Although she played tennis during her school days, her lifestyle changed after entering the film industry, with her daily schedule revolving around professional commitments, eating and sleeping. When she eventually began exercising, she initially focused heavily on cardiovascular workouts. However, this approach led to considerable muscle loss, leaving her noticeably thinner than before.

Later, she started yoga and started feeling better the more she practised it. She also incorporated strength training in her regimen.

According to an article published by Harvard’s TH Chan School of Public Health, here are the benefits of following a low-calorie and high-protein diet:

Proteins such as lean meat, fish, eggs, etc., move slowly from the stomach to the intestine. Slower stomach emptying means you are less likely to feel hungry or overeat.

Additionally, the mild, consistent influence of protein on blood sugar avoids the drastic drops (along with hunger) that frequently happen after consuming quickly metabolised carbohydrates, such as white bread or baked potatoes.

Third, our bodies use more calories to break down protein than it does todissolve fat or carbohydrates.

Consuming larger quantities of protein can assist weight loss enthusiasts in maintaining lean muscle while losing weight, which can also help increase the amount of energy they are burning.
