Rajesh Sethi says that the key to working from home is setting clear boundaries.
Working from home may be a whole new ball game, but the MD of NBA India gives us pointers for making it a win. The first requirement for Rajesh Sethi is a work space that’s just for work.
“Having a dedicated space is important for me so that I can work efficiently. I have set up an ergonomically-efficient home office in my study. Having a separate dedicated work space mentally prepares you to get into work mode,” says Sethi.
His next tip is to have a steady routine. Discipline is key. “It will help you stay focused and inculcate a sense of control,” he says. But Sethi also makes sure he takes regular breaks to stretch his legs and let his eyes get a break from the screen.
As crucial as it is to log in, Sethi says it’s equally important to log off. “It’s important to know when to switch off and define the boundaries between work and home time. Since there could be plenty of distractions at home, I adopt the Pomodoro time-management technique by breaking down work into intervals of 45 minutes, separated by a 10-minute break,” he says.
Team work Like most workplaces, Sethi and his team are sticking to video calls to stay connected. “We follow our daily schedule of video calls to resolve immediate challenges and build our responses to the emerging situations,” he says.

This crisis has been a teacher, Sethi feels. “The leadership team has bonded and is driven with the common purpose of staying focused while instilling confidence amongst our teams,” he adds.
