Adipurush’ has set a new record. For running into controversies that is.

Ever since its film teaser was released on social media, the Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer has managed to offend everything from aesthetic sensibilities to religious sentiments. From random social media users to political honchos - the film now has generated interest and headlines across the spectrum..

After facing massive backlash for allegedly copying iconic scenes from popular sci-fi films like ‘Planet of The Apes’ and the ‘Game of Thrones’ TV series, the film has made headlines for yet another case of plagiarism. A Mumbai-based animation studio has now claimed that the ‘Adipurush’ poster had been ripped off from a poster of their animated film ‘Lord Shiva’.

Taking to social media, the studio named Vaanarsena Studios shared a collage of both the posters and pointed out the similarity. The collage was accompanied by a text that read, “Such a shame, T- Series should mention the original creator, who developed the artwork @vaanarsenastudios.”

The studio also mentioned that this was not the first time others were ‘inspired’ by their work. “It’s disappointing to see our work being copied like this. But over the years, it’s happened so many times that it’s just funny at this point. We don’t see the point of fighting this as we’d rather focus on bringing you guys awesome content and continue on building that road," read the post.

From the posters, Prabhas (who is playing Lord Ram, the protagonist of sage Valmiki’s epic ‘Ramayana’) can be seen in the same pose as Lord Shiva from the poster shared by the studio.

The Om Raut directorial is slated to hit the theatres in January, 2023. It also stars Kriti Sanon in the role of Janaki (a role inspired by Sita) and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravana), the tyrannical monarch of Lanka.

Recently, the teaser had also invited the ire of Hindu religious leaders. The head priest of the Ram Mandir, Ayodhya recently called out the makers of ‘Adipurush’ for ‘misrepresenting’ Lord Ram, Hanuman and Ravana and demanded an immediate ban on the film.
