The teaser of the much-awaited Prabhas starrer ‘Adipurush’ is finally out and is currently going viral on social media, and for the wrong reasons. Netizens are reportedly underwhelmed by the visuals of the film.

The Om Raut directorial which stars Prabhas as Lord Ram, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, and Kriti Sanon as Sita is now being criticised left, right and centre on social media for its less than satisfactory special effects and makeup.

Netizens are having a field day trolling the movie’s VFX, calling it ‘cartoonish’. ‘Disappointing Adipurush’ became a top trend on Twitter ever since the teaser launched.

One user wrote: “I was wrong about #Adipurush, we can’t do justice to stories like #Ramayana & #Mahabharata unless we have a budget of Rs 1000+ crores. #Adipurush looks promising but I am #disappointed with the VFX and CGI. Instead of Prabhas’s hefty fees, makers could have invested that money in VFX.”

Another Twitter user compared the teaser to the popular mobile game 'Temple Run’ and wrote “Rs 700 crore Temple Run.’’ Another user wrote, “This is a HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY disappointing. A 500 crore cartoon movie… and that disgusting Ravana look! Prabhas could have carried that #Bahubali looks rather than this animated joke!”

Others were less than impressed with Khan’s look as Ravana. Calling out Khan’s minimalistic look consisting of short hair and beard, netizens questioned if the actor would be portraying Ravana or Alauddin Khilji in the film. One social media user wrote, “ “I mean seriously!!! Are they going to change the name of Ravan to Rizwan ?? Who is styling his beard?? Jawed Habib??"

‘Adipurush’ is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. It is based on Valmiki’s epic ‘Ramayana’. The film, which chronicles a time some 7000 years ago, explores Lord Ram’s journey to rescue his wife Sita from the clutches of Ravana the villainous king of Lanka. However, Prabhas’s character is called Raghav rather than Ram in the movie. Sanon’s role ( Janaki) is modelled on Sita. Khan’s character will be known as Lankesh. The movie will be released on January 12, 2023, in IMAX and 3D.
