AstaGuru’s Southeast Asian Contemporary Art auction (online) - Aug 22 & 23
The first day of this online auction from Mumbai-based auction house AstaGuru is almost through. But potential buyers have another day to lap up works by artists like Atul Dodiya, Bharti Kher, Anju Dodiya, Subodh Gupta, Jitish Kallat, NS Harsha, Nilima Sheikh, Mrinalini Mukherjee, Sudarshan Shetty, Gieve Patel, Valay Shende, Ravinder Reddy, Jayashree Chakravarty, TV Santhosh and Thukral & Tagra, to name a few.


Prinseps Rare Books auction (online) - Sept 4 & 5
All the lots (approx 60) in this auction will be from the collection of rare book collector, Sunil Baboo. De Vita Caesarum is the oldest book in this auction. As per the online catalogue of the auction, it (the book) was originally written in 121 AD by Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus. The version available in the auction was printed in 1605 and was written by the secretary of Hadrian the emperor. It gives a historic view on the twelve Caesars, who were very important figures in the Roman empire.

Saffronart Dialogues in Art - jewellery conference, ‘Mapping a legacy of Indian jewels’ - Oct 11 & 12

This jewellery conference debuted in 2017 in Mumbai. The second edition of the biennial jewellery conference, titled ‘Mapping a Legacy of Indian Jewels,’ will be hosted later in the year in Mumbai on October 11 - 12. The two-day conference has been curated by Dr. Usha R Balakrishnan, jewellery historian and author, and will feature jewellery historians, specialists, and designers from across the globe as speakers.

Last November, the international auction house hosted the first edition of the ‘Boundless: India’ auction in Mumbai. Works by Bhupen Khakar, Amrita Sher-Gil, VS Gaitonde, Sayed Haider Raza and FN Souza were up for grabs. A similar opportunity awaits prospective buyers as Sotheby’s will return with its second edition towards the end of the year.
