The movie Hanuman Ansh was released in cinemas on August 7, 2026, after being postponed from its original July 31 release date. More than 22 days after its theatrical debut, the film continues to run in cinemas, with several theatres still screening it with more than eight shows. Its steady run is outstanding, especially amid new releases such as Toxic, Awarapan 2, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and others. What began as a small-budget release has now turned into a surprising box office success.

Hanuman Ansh box office: From slow start to Rs 12 crore

Hanuman Ansh did not begin its theatrical journey with huge numbers. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened at around Rs 10 lakh and collected approximately Rs 1.08 crore in its first week. Its second week was even quieter, with the film earning around Rs 40 lakh.

However, the film's fortunes changed dramatically in its third week. Instead of slowing down as is common with films after two weeks, Hanuman Ansh recorded a massive jump and reportedly earned around Rs 10.5 crore in its third week alone.

This pushed its overall theatrical collection to approximately Rs 12 crore. The numbers are particularly impressive considering the film's reported production budget.

According to reports, Hanuman Ansh was made for just Rs 1.8 crore to Rs 2 crore. At a collection of around Rs 12 crore, the film has reportedly generated more than 500% profit against its production cost. Its extended theatrical run has also helped it stand out in a crowded release calendar.

The film's performance comes at a time when audiences have several bigger titles to choose from. Despite the competition, Hanuman Ansh has managed to retain enough interest to continue playing in theatres.

Producer sought Premanand Ji Maharaj's advice before release

The story behind Hanuman Ansh goes beyond its box office numbers. Before the film was released, one of its producers reportedly met Premanand Ji Maharaj to seek his advice.

Speaking to Aaj Tak, director and writer Vishal Chaturvedi explained that the producer approached him after the film had been shot and asked for guidance before taking it to audiences. According to Chaturvedi, the advice included making sure the protagonist followed a vegetarian lifestyle and remained disciplined about his habits.

The makers also introduced a set of strict rules during production. Chaturvedi said that people on the sets were expected to avoid abusive language, arguments and fights. Only vegetarian food was served, and alcohol was prohibited for everyone associated with the film.

The team also made the Hanuman Chalisa part of its daily routine. The director said they would begin and finish each shooting day by chanting the prayer.

There were times when production did not go according to schedule. Vishal recalled that although the team was sometimes supposed to begin shooting at 7 am, the cameras would not roll until much later because of various problems. During such delays, he would ask everyone to recite the Hanuman Chalisa while they waited.

According to him, the prayer became a way for the team to remain calm and look for solutions when things went wrong. Actor Shobhinaw Satyaa, who plays Neem Karoli Baba in the film, also recalled that the team would turn to the Hanuman Chalisa whenever they encountered a problem on set.

No big promotion, eight bhandaras became the campaign

The film's promotional strategy was equally unconventional. Vishal Chaturvedi revealed that the makers did not have a large budget for marketing Hanuman Ansh. Instead of spending heavily on conventional promotions, they decided to focus on spreading the message associated with Neem Karoli Baba, as reported by The Indian Express.

The team organised eight bhandaras, which eventually became an important part of the film's campaign. The makers used these gatherings to connect with people and spread awareness about the project.

Vishal said the intention was not to rely on a conventional promotional campaign but to communicate Neem Karoli Baba's message through their activities. Despite the limited resources, the film also received a U certificate from the CBFC without any reported issue.

Produced by Ragini S, Namrata G Singh, Anupriya A Nagar and Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is now among the recent small-budget films to find an audience through spirituality. Its unexpected third-week jump, extended theatrical run and reported Rs 12 crore collection show how word of mouth can sometimes give a modestly made film a second life at the box office—even when much bigger releases are competing for screens.
