Palred Group Chairman Palem Srikanth Reddy shares how he keeps fit during the lockdown.

Palem Srikanth Reddy, Chairman, Palred Group lives in a house where he has a large garden with a lot of fruit-bearing trees. He told ET Panache, "I generally walk in the garden every morning. Due to the lockdown, I am lucky enough to observe many things at a micro level such as blissful bird sounds making the environment pleasant. I usually practice Yoga in the morning, but now with a lot of time at my disposal, I am spending extra time on more intensive physical workouts like the treadmill, dumbbells, burpees, push-ups and stomach exercises."

The Palred Group chairman believes it's always better to avoid a sedentary lifestyle. "Working from home, although difficult, we need to prepare ourselves for every little thing. Be sure to get up, go and get things by yourself, whether it is a glass of water, spectacles, cell phone, or even the newspaper. Don’t ask others to fetch it for you. We can take care of our fitness by following very simple tips. Walk when you talk on the mobile phone. To remain fit, you do not actually need to go to the gym for most of the exercises. In fact, you do not require any equipment at all. By confining yourself to the home, you can still find place for low intensive exercises," he said.

Considering the restrictive lifestyle due to the extended lockdown, Reddy has made a lot of changes to his diet. "For a long time, I have been taking only two meals a day – late breakfast and late dinner with a handful of dry fruits around tea time and a couple of healthy drinks during the day. But currently, I am having brunch and early dinner. I also eat more fruits, consume more milk products while eating fewer non-vegetarian items to stay healthy," he shared.

Reddy is also watching videos of relatively intense exercises that can be done at home. "I found a few interesting exercises such as burpees and back strengthening activities. We have a Husky (pet dog) at home. I used to spend just 10-15 minutes every day after coming back home from the office with her. As I am at home, I get more free time to spend playing with her. It is good exercise and a big stress buster too," he said.

For fitness, Reddy is doing a mix of walking, yoga, treadmill, intense physical exercises, playing with the dog, and some badminton with his daughter.
