The Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar, left for heavenly abode in the wee hours of February 6, and the people of the country bid farewell to Didi with tears in their eyes.
But the mourning wasn't limited to India. The people from around the world were grieving the demise of the Queen of Melody.
A tribute to the late 92-year-old playback singer recently made it to the Times Square billboards in New York.
Famous chef Vikas Khanna shared a 54-second-long video, showing Mangeshkar smiling back at the people of NY from the digital hoarding as her song, 'Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum', from 1981 film 'Silsila', played in the background.
In his post, he said that the legendary singer enriched his life and he was grateful to be born in her era. "She will always be our voice and help us heal, was with us when we were praying, celebrating birthdays or festivals or in love or in pain. Her immortal legacy lives forever," he wrote.
The tribute read, "Binder (Indian Cultural Center) celebrates the immortal legacy of Lata Mangeshkar."
In 2021, the Michelin chef - who has returned to his favourite US city - launched Binder, an organisation that promotes the heritage and culture of India around the world. He also received the 2020 Asia Game Changer Award for organising a massive food distribution drive during the Covid pandemic.
Khanna joined hands with Delhi-based entrepreneur Rajesh Bhardwaj, and set up an Indian restaurant, Junoon, in New York.
Earlier on Monday, Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham, best known for her performance in US sports comedy 'Ted Lasso', also paid a tribute to the 'Bollywood songbird'.
