'Laal Singh Chaddha' gets positive response after OTT debut, fans laud Aamir Khan's performance

The film helmed by Advait Chandan saw Aamir Khan returning to the silver screen after five years. ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ which took three years to complete was made on a budget of Rs 180 crore. The film was released on August 11, 2022. An official remake of the Hollywood classic 'Forrest Gump’, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' failed to impress the audience and only managed to rake in around Rs 124 crore.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ was released alongside Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. The film helmed by Anand L Rai garnered mixed reviews. The comedy-drama made on a budget of Rs 70 crore has so far collected Rs 60 crores at the box-office. Both ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ rode on high expectations, however, both films were rejected by the masses upon release.

Stakes were particularly high as the film was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu. The film received mixed reviews, however, performances and production quality were appreciated.

‘Shamshera’ saw Ranbir Kapoor in an action avatar. The period-action film was among the highly anticipated movies of the year. The Karan Malhotra directorial was made on a budget of around Rs 150 crore. The film released on July 22 failed to attract audiences. It went on to rake in Rs 63 crore at the box-office and was declared a colossal failure.

Film-maker Kortala Siva’s ‘Acharya’ saw megastar Chiranjeevi and son Ram Charan share the silver screen. The action drama was made on a budget of Rs 140 crore. Despite the star power, the film was unable to lure audiences. It grossed close to Rs 76 crore and was declared a flop.

The action comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon is directed by Farhad Samji. The film made on a budget of Rs 180 crore bombed at the box-office upon release. The film, a remake of the hit Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’, only managed to gross Rs 70 crore at the box office.

The film starring John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria was released on July 29, 2022. The film is a sequel to the 2014 hit ‘Ek Villain’. The film made on a budget of Rs 80 crores was declared a flop upon release. It grossed Rs 63 crores at the box-office.

The Malayalam film starring superstar Mohanlal was among the biggest releases in Kerala. The film helmed by B Unnikrishnan was made on a budget of Rs 18 crore. Although the film managed to break even, considering the stellar cast and performances, it failed to rake in big numbers.

The thriller helmed by Ajay Devgn generated considerable interest in the run-up to its release. While Ajay Devgn played the lead, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh were seen in key roles. The film made on a whopping Rs 105 crore struggled to touch Rs 54 crore at the box-office.
