Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently faced a boycott over some old statements. Netizens came across some of his old interviews and objected to his disrespectful remarks on social media. Although the ‘3 Idiots’ actor was quick to apologise, his brother Faisal Khan feels he should have apologised earlier and not when his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ was about to hit the theatres.
In an interview with the ETimes, the ‘Mela’ actor praised his brother for apologising but also pointed out that he should have done so when he was called out for his remarks on social media.
“Yes it was right to apologise. No person knows everything in life. There’s no harm in apologising and correcting yourself. But he should have apologised immediately after that thing came out, not when his film was releasing. That seems opportunistic. But if someone doesn’t realise that they might have hurt someone, then I don’t know about that. Because if you don’t know when realisation dawns upon someone,‘’ he told ETimes.
In the same interview, the actor revealed that although he had been given an offer to appear in the upcoming season of the popular reality show Big Boss, he declined it as spending time cooped up in the house would be akin to being ‘caged’. He revealed he had already been ‘caged’ in his brother’s house once and has no intention of relieving that experience.
“Qaid mein mazaa nahin hai (there’s no fun being caged). I have been caged once in Aamir’s house. I don’t intend to get caged again. I want to live free and flow like water.”
When asked if he was still on talking terms with his illustrious brother, the ‘Madhosh’ actor revealed that although they are on talking terms, they don’t meet up frequently due to lack of time. “We meet and greet each other on occasions but the thing is that he’s so busy in his life, as am I.”

In 2008, the actor-filmmaker accused his superstar sibling for barricading him at the family home against his will once he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and attempting to take custody of him. He had told Hindustan Times, “Frankly I was never ill. All of that were false rumours spread by my family and my elder brother Aamir. I was kidnapped, put under house arrest and given unwanted drugs. I should be treated as a normal person,” he was quoted as saying to the daily newspaper.
