The year 2022 has been worrisome for Bollywood as the poor performances of highly anticipated movies continue. Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which remained controversial for all the wrong reasons, failed to meet the expectations of Box Office pundits. Similar was the story with Akshay Kumar’s third dud of the year, Raksha Bandhan.

Laal Singh Chaddha is a Hindi adaptation of Tom Hank’s superhit film, Forrest Gump. The movie was released around Independence Day but failed to capitalize on the extended holidays. Similarly, Raksha Bandhan, which also targeted the annual Hindu festival, failed to make any significant mark. However, the stories of the two failures remain quite different.
The Aamir Khan starrer found itself in a huge controversy regarding the film's subject matter. A boycott wave hit the 3 Idiots star's movie, even though it received mixed reviews. On the other hand, Raksha Bandhan received severe criticism for being a “low-rent” and caught in a time wrap.

Akshay’s last two movies, Samrat Prithviraj and Bachchhan Paandey, also failed to make a mark at the box office. His recent release, Cuttputlli, has also received negative reviews, which is a big worry for the Khiladi. Aamir’s last movie, the multi-starrer Thugs of Hindustan, was also a mega flop, which has put the veteran actor’s brand in unchartered territory.

As per media reports, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to make Rs. 60 crores in India, while the movie's worldwide performance stands at a meager Rs. 130 crores. As reported, the budget of the movie, which was shot for many years, was Rs. 180 crore. Raksha Bandhan’s global performance stands at Rs. 60 crores, while its budget was around Rs. 70 crores.
