The actor will next be seen in a remake of Spanish hit film 'Campeones'
Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen. The actor whose last release - ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ - failed to light up the box-office, will be back with a sports drama film.
The actor took a two-month break following the ‘LSC’ debacle. He was rumoured to be holidaying in San Francisco.
According to reports, Khan is planning to star in a remake of the 2018 Spanish blockbuster ‘Campeones’ (English translation: Champions). He will start shooting for the film from January 2023. The film will be directed by RS Prasanna, who has previously helmed the romantic comedy ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’. Composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will work on the music for this project. This venture will mark Khan’s third collaboration with the trio after ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’.
Khan was last seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. The movie was an official remake of the Hollywood cult classic ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks. The film opened to lukewarm reception from the audience and was panned heavily by the critics. It proved to be a box-office disaster and ended up with a lifetime collection of Rs 59 crore.
Talking about the film, a source told Peeping Moon, “Everything has started moving at a brisk pace again. Aamir has given dates from January onwards. He will decide on other aspects of the film once he returns from the US. The casting, location scouting and all the pre-production work are also going on in full swing.”
Aamir will reportedly play a self-absorbed and arrogant basketball coach who is asked to train a team of intellectually challenged basketball players.

Directed by Javier Fesser, ‘Campeones’ is a sports drama film. It was inspired by the Aderes team in Burjassot (Valencia). This team, which won 12 Spanish championships between 1999 and 2014, was composed of members with intellectual disabilities.
Besides the ‘Campeones’ remake, Khan was also rumoured to star in ‘Moghul’ a biopic based on the life and times of the T-series founder Gulshan Kumar. However due to multiple delays, budget constructions and frequent changes of cast, the film was shelved.
